2010+ Plan
Monitoring the Town Plan
E xtensive public involvement, created the Town Plan. The next stage, putting actions in place is off to a flying start. 41% of the total actions will always be ongoing, the duty to carry them through falling on the various committees of the Town Council. The Chamber of Commerce has also enthusiastically embraced and completed a number of projects. Of the remaining 76 points, 13% have already been completed. An excellent start on the actions identified. Other actions are already started with short, medium and long term completion periods anticipated.
Chris Scorey.Chairman 2010+ Steering Committee (June 2006)
A well attended meeting at the British Legion saw the launch of the 2010+ Town Plan. The plans are being delivered to every household in Hungerford and spare sets of the plans are available in the library and Town Council office. West Berks Chief Executive Very Impressed With The Plan. The chief executive of West Berkshire, Nick Carter attended the meeting and explained how important the plan was to West Berkshire. He was very complimentary of the Plan and was impressed that so many people were involved in the process and also at the meeting. He explained that if West Berkshire has tried to do something similar that it would be very difficult to get so many involved. West Berkshire was also going to use the 2010+ Plan as one of its main bases for applying for Beacon Status with their approach to Parish Planning. Action Groups to Deliver the Plan.
After the launch those attending split up into groups to get involved with the many actions identified in the plan. There were 15 different groups which included economy, housing and population, environment, transport, leisure, sport, crime, education. An important group was the funding groups which is needed to identify and apply for the many sources of funding available to deliver the actions.
