Standing order suspended and Chris Scorey of 2010+ Housing and Population group joined discussion.  Mr Scorey thanked the Committee for the opportunity to be involved with the idea of a Rural Exception Site and told the Committee of the work already being done by 2010+ regarding the LDF and potential sites.  Mr Scorey said he would arrange a meeting of the 2010+ group to get input from them regarding potential sites – he would then feed back to The E & P Committee.

(c) Discuss correspondence from Kennet Housing Society

KHS has expressed a wish to meet with the Committee to discuss how they could work with HTC regarding affordable housing.  The Committee felt it would be beneficial to hear their suggestions and it was decided that the Chair should contact the Society to invite them to the E & P meeting of 9th May 2007.  Arlene of CCb was also to be informed in case she wished to attend.

8) Climate Change

(a) Discuss how the Committee directs interested parties and individuals

The Chair explained that she had received a second phone call from a member of the public enquiring about the recent comments HTC has made regarding climate change (i.e. showing Al Gore’s film and inviting interested members of public to sign up at the AGM).  The member of the public has asked what HTC was planning to do; and how he could be involved.  Cllr Scorey asked the Committee the question ‘what is GTC doing’.

It was decided that a request for the matter was to be included on the next Full Council meeting (the Chair of which was in attendance).  In the short term Cllr Acworth took the details of the interested member of the public again and vowed to contact him.

Cllrs Acworth and Bullock expressed and interest and agreed to attend and report back to the Committee.
