The Steering Group is looking at Food, Transport, Waste, Employment, Education & ??.  They are using existing skills and facilities to get the group off the ground, plan to encourage people to live in an environmentally friendly way.  There is a market stall held on a regular basis.  Have met with John O’Gaunt Technology College, trying to make links between local businesses and the school.  Transport – lots of ideas.  Need to consider environmentally friendly waste.  Links have to be made with WBC.  Environmental issues have to be promoted to the public.  Practical solutions have to be found to global issues.  Cllr Bullock suggested that the Council looks at Blueberry, a project village, used for looking at reducing the carbon footprint, Cllr Bullock to let Cllr Nesbitt has contact telephone numbers.

Cllr Harries advised the group that there are government initiatives for loft and roof insulation for the over 70’s, suggested that we advertise this on the HEAT stall in the street to raise awareness., for under 70’s the cost is £200 for wall insulation and £200 for roof insulation.  There is also a website advertising an installation company  that will give a presentation, this is government funded.  For older buildings the Society of Preservation of Ancient Buildings may be able to assist with work/funding.

8.      Affordable Housing

Testway are the chosen company for Affordable Housing.  Arlene Kersley had advised Cllr Thompson that she had written to the companies that presented advising them of the outcome and thanking them for their time.  It was agreed that Cllr Thompson would also write to the companies on behalf of HTC.

The allotments by the Catholic Church may have housing built on them in the future, allotment holders have been given notice to quit.  Cllr Thompson and Cllr Harries are visiting the Land Registry  this week to see where there is land that may be used for allotments in the future, this land could be leased or purchased.
