4.            The Greening Campaign:  Mr Anthony Armitage of West Berkshire Council gave a brief presentation on the greening campaign which he is overseeing for WBC (details of which are on the leaflet provided at the meeting, website:  www.greening-campaign.co.uk).  The aim of the campaign is to encourage people to build a strong community focus on green issues.  A steering group is needed to get things moving, then there will be a public meeting followed by the launch of the campaign.  All Hungerford Town Council is asked to do is to provide endorsement and to help promote the scheme and encourage groups to take part, such as the schools, scouts, brownies, etc. Hungerford has been allocated funds for this, and, although Mr Armitage said that the original grant had come from the Greenham Common Trust, he was not clear on whether funds were coming from the rate-payer.

Mr Armitage left at 7.15 pm.
